COSRX, COSRX, COSRX… Constantly releasing new products. Sometimes it is a bit hard to actually follow what they are dropping all the time! This time, I’m telling you guys about my experience with the One Step Green Hero Calming Pads!
We all know that pads have been taking over the Korean Beauty market for a while now. Honestly, there’s not a brand out there that don’t offer magic in the form of pads and COSRX… Well, they have three options – Original, Moisture (read about it here) and the newest option, Calming. At this point, I feel like I should order their ‘Original’ option, and make a comparison with all three products!
Since most of the tea about the products have been spilled before, let’s focus on what the difference is and why COSRX created these pads! These pads are the most gentle hero ever born to soothe the most sensitive skin. As usual, all COSRX products are dermatologically tested, so there’s no fuss here.
When reflecting upon its key ingredients, green tea extract removes inflammation, cica recovers the skin, which hazel calms down irritated skin, while tea tree provides an antibacterial effect. Further on, Korean mugwort (or artemisia princeps extract) restores the skin balance while providing a calming sensation. Lastly, it’s PHA level of 0.25% increases potency while keeping the formula safe and gentle for our skin. Moreover, COSRX is aiming for a hydrating and refreshing product, with distinct soothing and calming properties. This product is 100% vegan, paraben-free, and cruelty-free, something quite important these days.
With its Green-RX complex from natural plants, it is aiming for a smooth recovery for irritated skin. Containing around 75% green tea, it contains DNA repairing properties with EGCG that fights DNA damage from UV rays to prevent our skin from cancer. Not only does it have inflammation reducing properties, but it also has anti-bacterial properties for treating acne and unclogging pores. To be honest, this is just a mild treatment for sensitive skin, nothing scary at all.
So, how do you use it?
Gently swipe it across your skin once or twice daily after the toner step, or use it as a toner. Pat the formula onto the skin, and make sure that the lid is tightly secured so that the pads stay moist and clean. Remember that the COSRX pads are not supposed to be washed off after use. I have read multiple places that people tend to rinse their faces after using these pads and to make it clear – dont. Let the essences soak in!
As you can see, the pads fit perfectly into the Standard Pad Case & yes, the pads do have a tiny hint of green.
My personal trick
Is to use it as a mask for 5 – 10 minutes on the areas where I need some love. It’s more comfortable than a sheet mask, goes faster, and less messy. What I also like to do is to bring this little box of love with me when I go to the gym, so after each session, I swipe it across my skin. Making sure that there are no germs, sweat, or dirt clogging my pores and triggering acne. When I was in Seoul, I actually managed to find the ‘Standard Pad Cases’ at ÅLAND, Gargosugil branch in Gangnam, and I had to grab one for me and one for Sigrun. The case is perfect for traveling, especially when you want to carry these pads with you regularly. Sizewise, it’s smaller than a cushion container, so it doesn’t take up that much room in your bag as well!
This product is a toner pad that features only EWG green-level ingredients (meaning ingredients that are clean and very unlikely to irritate the skin). It’s suitable for all skin types but is more ideal for those with sensitive skin as it focuses on weak acid exfoliation and soothing. I can’t say something negative about this product, and I do think that one of the main reasons why is because COSRX really does create great products. I’ve never had a bad experience with products from them, and this product is truly amazing. Previously I used to love their moisture up pads, but I really do feel that these do provide more moisture while also doing more for my skin.
