Its been around two months since I started using Korean skin care products & the first oil cleanser I tried from Korea was the Skin Food, Black Sugar Perfect Cleansing Oil.
As previously stated in our “how to k-beauty” post, double cleansing is super important and even though I haven’t tried any other Korean products yet, this is definitely my oil cleanser favorite. There are so many products out there, something that makes it hard to find a product to use! While searching for oil cleansers, I came across multiple products that I’ll hopefully be able to test out, but for now – let me tell you about this one.
This cleanser by SKINFOOD is made from black, unrefined sugar. It’s enriched with vitamins and minerals and organically farmed without pesticides. SKINFOOD Black Sugar Cleansing Oil is (obviously) an oil-based cleanser with black sugar extracts, recommended removing heavy makeup easily and thoroughly. And, yes – it does remove makeup! The product is great for all skin types, including those with dry skin.
It comes in a practical pump bottle that makes it easy to dosage the needed product into your palms. When I first started using this, I only used one pump of product – but after a while, I ended up using two so that I could get rid of everything since I use eyelash primer, mascara, eyeshadow primer and shadows (the list goes on)! One pump did remove it, but it left some traces that I had to go over again with the same oil. Previously I’ve tried some oil removers that didn’t remove any product at all so this is seriously amazing. This removes literally everything, and I use it both at night and in the morning with my foam cleanser (cause double cleanse is life).
SKINFOOD claims that this product will remove even the toughest makeup, as stated – this is true. However, I don’t use waterproof makeup, but since I layer my products with primers, they tend to sit better and not remove easily with other products, but this gets the job done. Unfortunately, it does make my eyes cloudy sometimes, but not more than any other eye makeup remover would do. When this happens, I just add some extra water before I continue with my cleansing routine. Thankfully, it does not cause any irritation or burning for my eyes. So, how has this worked out for my skin? Well, my face gets super clean! When I first started double cleansing the most common thought that would strike me was; “Why should I wash my face twice when this actually removes it all?”. It doesn’t strip my face or make it feel dry, something that makes me love this product even more compared to western products that I’ve been using my whole life. It gives my complexion this super nice glow and cleans it so well I sometimes end up speechless.
So, since August(?) I’ve used 1/4 of the product (50ml out of 200ml). As you can see from my *professional bathroom pictures taken in the middle of the night* this product will last a long time and the best thing about it, ITS CHEAP! The USD price on eBay (from this seller) is $15, depending on when you are buying it that’s something around 100-120 NOK.
